April 2006 SailTime Channel Islands News

After a little hibernation, It's time for some great Spring sailing in Southern California. Shake out the Winter cobwebs and get out on the water soon !

Captain Dan's Corner

Ahoy !
I'm thinking of buying an arc right about now and am hoping we can salvage some stable weather this

Spring. After all, we have a lot of 104's to get through still before the BVI graduation. Ahh, the BVI ! Are we going to have some fun or what ! That's right, I've nabbed a berth on the Rear Admiral's Catamaran and it's going to be a Father/Son deal with my Tom and Colin aboard to do any actual work that might arise. Can't wait ! But meanwhile, those of you who haven't scheduled your 104 with me need to while their are still openings.

Also, many of you have expressed an interest in having me teach your family members how to sail so you can have a good crew. Contact me now to begin scheduling while we still have a good selection of potential dates. So, get out when the sun shines and enjoy some Spring sailing !

Weather Blahs
The weather really has stunk for some time now. It has washed out a number of clinics and frolics and kept us all from enoying our sailing. But soon, we will return to "normal". Top it off with a move, new boat, tax season and I'm sure I can come up with a couple more excuses if you let me - but we missed publishing in March and April was quickly slipping by as well. In May, we are going to try a new event - a fun rally type race around Gina and back followed by a BBQ party. You don't have to sail to come and enjoy the dock party. So make plans to join us for a pre-memorial-day fling ! First come first serve on boat space.

Varekai Arrives !
The beautiful Varekai arrived in early March and was quickly filled with a full comple-ment of members. This spacious new boat promises to be a wonderful addition to the fleet as the first of many Hunter 36's to come.

We are looking for our next Owner Member candidate who would like to own #4 in our fleet. We are looking for another 36. We have decided to follow protocol from now on and require that any candidate first become a member for a few months. So if you know anyone let them know they need to join and experience SailTime for themselves, first. If you are interested in learning more about the Owner-Member position, contact me and we can sit down and discuss the possibilities.
