2010 Sailing Season Kicks Off with a Frolic!
Ma Nature took pity on the Channel Islands Harbor SailTime Membership last night by providing a warm late afternoon to enjoy our dock party BBQ, a colorful sunset to start the fun race and a brilliant full moon to finish it.

Dock Commodore and his 1st Mate offered up their now famous tri-tip BBQ style and everyone else chipped in with great side dishes and deserts. We ate first because of a near-harbor-draining low tide that had the boats firmly grounded in their slips at the 4pm hour. But by 5:30 the sun was setting and the boats were freed.
The fun race was won by 1421, Captained by long time member John McKinney and his well polished team who attributed their win to dogged sail trimming led by Lindsey Q on the mainsail. This is the same winning team that led the flotilla around the BVI last November; a well polished machine to say the least. Varekai came in second, Captained by our favorite Rookies, Ken and Cathy, who edged out long time Members Jim and Karen on Bodacious. A total of about 16 people comprised of members and their families / friends enjoyed a glorious late January evening with much howling at the big wolf moon.
The next FMF is scheduled for Sat, Feb 27th
