A Rough Calm Before The Storm
It’s an eerie morning out here at Channel islands Harbor. Forecast is for a cold front to hit some time today. We wont see any rain from it as is usual here where the desert meets the sea. But the gale warning flags are out. Its currently quite warm with a South East breeze blowing lightly.
Its not too often that you find the squid boats hiding behind the breakwall. But the sea has to be in the 8-10 foot range already from the big winds up North. If you look closely you can see a sailboat mast. Apparently the sailboat from San Francisco on its way South decided our harbor would be a good place to wait it out!
Bizarre perspective with my big lens. Thats a perpendicular Jetty at the end of our harbor entrance with the entrance breakwall getting hit by a big wave behind it. The fishing boat is behind the breakwall but in front of the jetty. The sailboat is outside of the breakwall and Gina is perched in the background with Anacapa in the distant mist.

Yikes…it looks like the sailboat is right in the middle of the crashing waves. Be safe everyone! Looks like you have a healthy flock of pelicans!
We’ve got more pelicans than people round here. Fortunately they dont aim their waste at my boats very often…so I love them too!
Glad you explained the long lens compression–had to be confusing to some. About a 400mm?
Exactly! This lens can take some crazy shots from my vantage spot here!
