It was a big day in Valencia, Spain today when the Alinghi Defender Team accepted the Challenger of Record, BMW Oracle’s challenge to race their 90 x 90 multihulls. This much we know. In conflicting reports on the web, I have seen that Oracle is also pushing to drop back to ACC V5.0 designs and open it up to all challengers. I have also read that Alinghi is willing to let others build and compete on the 90×90′s. So, there is still some things not settled.

None the less, the Valencia organizing group has set dates for 2 pre-regatta’s to be held in July and October of this year on the ACC version 5 designs. If you get the chance to visit the AC facility that Valencia built you can understand why they are so bent on getting this acton out of the courts and back on the water. After visiting in 2007, I’m ready for some more paella and Estrella and everything else that makes Spain such an awesome place to visit!
