Annual Member Appreciation Party Was a Blast!
In years’ past I tried to sandwich a SailTime Holiday Party into the time period between Thanksgiving and Christmas. It just added another event into a long string for our Members during a stressful time of the year. So this year, I reinvented our annual party into what I have coined the Annual Member Appreciation Party. This makes so much more sense because it relieves the pressure of another event over the holidays and lets me focus on telling my Members how much I really do appreciate them! By moving to these dates we had nearly a 100% turnout of our local Membership.
Once again I asked member, Bobby Weisman, “caterer to the stars”, to prepare a special meal for the day. We went with BBQ and the weather cooperated with a Summer-like day. We used the Anacapa Yacht Club for what will more than likely be the last time. The building is slated to be torn down later this year as the county goes about the redevelopment of that side of the harbor. After the meal, I presented a slide show that consisted mostly of Member photos taken throughout the previous year followed by Annual Captain’s awards and the coveted Member of the Year trophy. I think everybody who came had a good time and got to meet members they might not have before.
Colin Tucker enjoys a good laugh with Members Mike and Deana Ruel who are biding their time in the program while they decide what boat to purchase to sail around the world!

Wonderful event Chris and special thanks to you, Bobby and Dwight for all that you do to make Sailtime a fun place for members to gather a share their love for sailing and the fabulous marine resources we have in the Channel Islands. Mike
