Bellport AMS Prop Doc Saves the Day
A few days before one of the boats in our fleet was scheduled to head on down to Newport Beach to prepare for the Newport-Ensenada race we had a diver go down to clean the bottom. After all, “1421″ is defending a trophy and we wanted to give her the best chance!
Horror of horrors when we get the word that the feathering Kiwi Prop looks damaged. The owner quickly called the company in New Zealand who immediately shipped the parts for repair. Then, the day before transit day ( Newport is about 80 miles south ) we hauled “1421″ out of the water and the Bellport AMS “Prop Doc” got to work. It appears it may have been fishing line which cut up one of the blades and exploded the inside protective mounting cone. We were back in the water in 45 minutes and now the boat is poised this morning to start the race around noon – whew !Â
Look for a Newport-Ensenada Race recap next week!

Wow! That really was a close one!
