Dry Spring Storm Pummels So Cal Coast

Published by at 2:40 pm under Random Thawt

So some time around last Sunday afternoon I heard the word “breezy” creep into the local weather forecasting. Having heard this term used before around here, I double tied the boats. Monday and Tuesday it blew non-stop out of the North in the 40mph range with no letup and occasional gusts much higher. Monday evening I recorded 49mph on my handheld wind gauge. I also went and checked the boats that are upwind of our fleet to see how their lines were holding up. I’ve never done that before…Heard that a coastie in Ventura recorded a 62mph gust there. Tuesday dawned with relentless wind. The TV guys that stand around a green screen talked about how surprisingly strong this was and even disclosed that maybe they had missed the call…But never fear it would be over soon. I guess soon didnt mean Wednesday because it raged again all day and night.

Not too worry, folks, they said. Surely it will end by Thursday… Here is the afternoon forecast map…The pink just off shore of us equals 40+ mph wind. All that red color is 30′s. My sailors dont like this because it is just too much wind. We don’t like it because every nook and cranny of our fleet is now pasted with blech. Such is life.
