Global Warming Debate Rages On
Being around 50 years old, I recall, a half a lifetime ago, scientists talked about how pollution could in fact cause an environmental disaster. Then, like a lot of “counter culture” folks, I fell into earning a living and raising a family. We all did. And a lull swept across the nation for two decades. I can’t pinpoint why. All that time I did things to help the planet, eschewing plastic bags, recycling, composting, etc. etc. But for the longest period the media just stopped informing us of our impending doom. Then, for some reason, it got picked up again and is a front page story in the USA once more. Will it last ? When I was in Europe last Summer, I was amazed to find out that those folks over there have been working collectively for the two decades we slumbered. And it shows.

A picture tells a thousand words…I dont care if you are in the camp that believes this is just a natural phenom or just an ebb and flow of weather patterns. The graph correlates with the rapid industrialization of the planet. For the past 25 years we have been on an upward swing. Being a sailor, Im all for lots of ocean. But I am having a hard time deciding exactly where the shoreline will be for my grandchildren.
