Busy Summer in the Harbor
This summer in the Channel Islands Harbor looks to be fun for all and especially good for admirers of classic sailing yachts and tall ships!
The nautical activities gets started on May 14th for the Safe Boating Expo. The big hit of this event is the tour of the USCG vessels and the helicopter rescue demonstrations! It’s a full day of seminars and displays worth checking out.
June 24-26 will be the 2011 Festival of Sail. Six tall ships will converge here for a long weekend of festivities with plenty of chances to take tours and several sailing opportunities. Its three full days of fun for all ages. On the morning of the 25th, there is also a Boaters Swap Meet in the Peninsula Marina parking lot
July 30th will be the 33rd annual Mcnish Classic. It is a weekend of classic sailing yachts who come together for a race on Saturday. This event is always fun to get out on the water and follow the majestic old yachts!
Saturdays throughout July and August will see the return of Concerts by the Sea at Peninsula park. July 4th is fireworks. Sundays is Farmers Market and sandwiched several times throughout the summer are various car shows, our favorite being the Central Coast British Car Show.
Also for kids, there is Junior Lifeguards and the excellent sailing program offered by the Pacific Corinthian Youth Foundation right here in the harbor. So, make plans for a fun time this summer season.
