We held our Safety at Sea clinic on our newest Hunter 36, 1421, yesterday. It was a crisp, clear day with not much wind. But that didn’t stop our intrepid bunch of sailors under the guidance of Captain Dan. The group practiced seamanship skills that included emergency anchor deployment, man overboard drills, VHF and dsc protocol, operating the emergency steering and manual bilge pump.

Here we see the group rigging a jackline for heavy weather and/or short handed sailing. We even set off a fire extinguisher to see what kind of mess that makes.

During the winter months we hold at least one clinic a month to help members become more proficient. It also give them a chance to meet other members and grab an extra ride on a boat ! Our next one, an Anacapa Island circumnavigation, happens in February.
