Sailing Clinic Season in Southern California

Published by sailtimeci at 12:21 am under SailTime

We kicked off the sailing clinic season this week here at the Channel Islands Harbor in Southern California. Every Winter we offer SailTime members here the opportunity to learn new or brush up on skills. This gives them the opportunity to participate and get tips from our instructor at less cost than regular lessons. The boats can handle 4-6 students and the Captain.

Here we see Captain Dan doing a little pre-sail instruction on Imagine, prior to heading off on our popular Ventura Lunch Run clinic. This fun event shows members how to travel between the two harbors and how to make a safe approach to the Ventura “foreign” port. Once in that harbor, members learn how to hail the dockmaster and get a visitors slip. From there, well…we proceed to eat at one of the great waterside establishments this fine harbor enjoys. We especially like Le Petit Cafe, but Brophy’s of Santa Barbara fame is becoming a favorite as well.

The Ventura Harbor is a great day sail from Channel Islands Harbor, consisting of about 2 hours up and 2 hours back.

We also offer a Saftey at Sea, Anacapa Island Circumnavigation, Heavy Weather Sailing and Spinnaker Sailing clinic. Each month, between December and May, there is a clinic for members to take part in and it has become very popular in the past few years.
