Santa Cruz Island Cruising Destination Video

Published by sailtimeci at 10:56 pm under Sailing

I’ve been spending most of my “spare” time shooting and producing videos of late. So, when I found a piece of real modern day professional amature footage recently I marveled at how much work it must have taken to put it all together.

I’m talking about the just-released Around Santa Cruz Island DVD video that is from Sail-The-Channel.

This video is great for many reasons, not the least of which is, that it is about a local treasure we have here in Southern California. Just 25 miles away from the morass known as greater Los Angeles, lies a wilderness island like no other in this country and perhaps, the planet. I also like the video because - for me at least - its told in a folksy, friendly way yet has some excellent footage of our closest cruising grounds. Finally, I like just about any sailing footage because there is so darn few and far between. But really, go out and shoot an hour or so of video on your favorite subject. Then come home and try and make some sort of sense out of it that you wouldn’t be afraid of sharing with the public and I think you will understand my appreciation for what Marc Hersch and his team have done.

Get a copy for yourself whether you plan to head over to Santa Cruz or just wish you could.
