Summer SailStice at Channel Islands Harbor
Conditions were perfect for SailTime Channel Islands participation in the global SailStice celebration. While winds were predicted to be 15-25 they were closer to 12-18 which made for a fine sail on a perfect Southern California Father’s Day weekend.
Members gathered at the docks around noon for sailing, then we had a giant BBQ with burgers and Red Hots plus plenty of sides and deserts.
The SailStice celebration was founded by John Arndt in 2001 and has gathered quite a bit of momentum around the world as a way of sailors coming together to enjoy “the longest sailing day of the year.” SailTime has been a sponsor of the event since 2004 and this base has participated in one way or anther every year, except for one.
