Tall Ships Arrive at Channel Islands Harbor

Published by at 3:06 am under Random Thawt

Tall Ships Lady Washington and Hawaiian Chieftain have sailed into Channel Islands Harbor here in Oxnard. I saw them and nabbed this pic on my bike ride this evening. It’s always a highlight of the Winter season to have them here. Dockside tours from the Harbor Office docks are offered tomorrow through Friday from 4-5pm and on Saturday, Feb 7th from 10am to 1pm. There will be mock battle rides and adventure sails on Sunday. New this year is the opportunity to go aloft in the high spars!

It’s fun to go out sailing with them on their battles. You can get some great pics and your guests will thrill to the power and majesty of these historical replica craft. We are due to get some wet weather on Thurs & Fri, so hopefully Sunday will be a good day for sailing weather and let us get out with them. The two sailing ships head next to Morro Bay, Feb 15, then various harbors of the San Francisco bay from Feb 22 through March. If you miss this event, Tall Ship Lynx will be here for two weeks, March 2-18

Having lived up and down the Coast of the Pacific including Catalina, it is nice to see these ships under sail in all their magnificence of a previous era up and down the coast stopping in various ports.
