Tall Ships at Channel Islands Harbor

Published by sailtimeci at 4:32 am under Sailing

One of the most attended events I have seen at this harbor for some time went on this weekend. Eight tall ships converged At Channel Islands Harbor for a public event. I wish we could have a few of these beautiful ships actually berth here full time. If there is this much interest, there must be an opportunity !

This is the Bounty. Certainly one of the most impressive historical reproductions afloat ! Built for the movie, Mutiny on the Bounty, this authentic square rigger is now apparently, an adventure vacation ship, offering passage from port of call to port of call. September is San Diego to Hawaii…

We got to see them all as we sailed out for our flotilla overnight to Santa Cruz Island and then again on Sunday on our way back home. The harbor was a real zoo with traffic and tons of small craft. Just the way it should be on a great Summer afternoon !
