February 2005 SailTime Channel Islands News

Spring is just around the corner at SailTime Channel Islands and we are buzzing with excitement over the great winter sailing you can nab (in between storms) So get out on the water again soon !

Captain Dan's Corner

Ahoy Mateys !
All of the supplies for ASA 104/105 have arrived and soon, a number of you will dive headlong into the coursework. I think you will agree that knowing where you are, based on

where you started and where you intend to go can be of some use on a boat. Especially if you plan to do any cruising. If you haven't contacted me to make plans, now is the time !

This month we are taking the December Anacapa Circumnavigation crew that got weathered out for that cruise clinic. I'm excited because its whale season and you just never know. The trip is full but we will offer this one again soon - probably April.

Come on out for our full moon fun Friday this month on the 25th. We had a blast getting our bearings out there in the dark last month so we decided why not just make it a regular fun thing to do - followed by drinks and pu-pus at SeaFresh. Arrrrgh!

If you want to finish up your 101 now or even get a refresher afternoon sail, just give me a call at 805/750-7828 and we'll go have some fun.

Tips for Keeping Your Boat Ship Shape

Here's an easy tip to remember: Bring an old towel along with you to mop up the initial "dirty feet syndrom" and to use as you close up after your sail.

Remember, only use the squeegee if you need to clean the glass or plastic. Towels scratch it!@#

Get a FREE month of membership ! Refer us a new Member or an Owner/Member and we'll give you a free month ! 1 space available right now !

We continue to spot a lot of floating debris from the January storms. So keep a close watch out at all times.

It won't be long till there is enough light to take a quick sail in the weekday evenings again. Don't book the day slot when you do this. Just take the night slot.

Remember, you can reserve sail times months in advance if you like. So if you have guests coming in a few months, you can reserve a slot to be sure it will be there for you.

Saturday 2/26 We have reserved the boat for an Open House for prospects to take a demo sail on imagine. Sorry for the inconveniece. We try to only do this a few times a year when a boat is not entirely full.

Captain Dan made his own fog by keeping the canvas on the dodger during the January fog clinic on a crystal clear day! Here, Dennis Dreith is at the helm. Photo courtesy of Gary Bergman
