June was a Record !
We had more sailing on both boats during the month of June than ever before. Congrats to everybody for doing their part in the never ending challenge of keeping the boats in ship shape condition. Here are a couple things to keep in mind.

Not Sailing Your Reservation ?
Sure it happens - you make a reservation and then for whatever reason are not able to go sailing. Do yourself and your fellow sailors a favor and cancel the reservation. That way you open up the spot to someone else and save yourself a day in the future !

Report Any and All Damage
No matter how big or small. Please report any damage you cause or if you find something that has been unreported. We do not want any surprises for anybody.

Cruising ? If you go on an overnight cruise, please call Chris at 984-1952 when you leave the harbor and when you return. That way we'll know you are safe and sound !

Ahoy Mateys !
Summer is certainly here. I can tell because it's foggy... When I tell you winter sailing is great maybe now, you'll

believe me ! But seriously, congrats to all the members who signed up for 104/105. A packed classroom kicked off the 105 class on June 25th. So much so, that we have moved the venue to the Anacapa Yacht Club which is on Victoria Blvd just before the Coast Guard in the building that stands in front of the dry slip storage area of the harbor. Not sure where that is ? Call me and I'll fill you in. Look for the SailTime banner !

Those of you taking 104 and 105, make sure you contact me to schedule your 104 sailing time so that we are all set with that. It's cruising time and I'm heading up the Rainbow team for the Catalina cruise. If you didn't make it this year - make sure you jump on it next year !

Owner Members ? Are you thinking of becoming an Owner Member ? We need Owner Members now ! We are looking for people who want to own a 33 or 36 in the next year. Right now we need another 33 and soon after we will begin to build a fleet of 36's. Contact Chris now for more information.

Following the Dream
The real beauty of SailTime is gaining all those repetitive cycles sailing a big boat in the big seas here and then taking those skills and applying them somewhere exotic on a sailing vacation. I had the opportunity to do just that when I took my parents and some non-sailing old friends down to the British Virgin Islands in June.

The British Virgin Islands, BVI, are an idyllic archipelago just east of Puerto Rico at the top of the West Indies chain of islands in the Caribbean. At 18 degrees North, you are in the tropics where the air and water temperatures are in the 80's year around. Summer can be wetter and Winter can be windier. Christmas through Easter is the high season. August through October can pose hurricane threats. Expect good winds and flat water sailing conditions. We had a little reef in our jib on most days as the trade winds blow between 15-20 knots most days. It's those trade winds that make everything perfectly comfortable - keeping the heat from becoming oppresive.

This past trip was 10 days of sailing - the perfect amount - not too little and not too much ! We had a Jeanneau 43 Deck Salon that had plenty of room for our group.

The next trip is slated for November 11-19. It will be the first graduation flotilla for SailTime members all around thw world who have completed the Novice to Captain course of learning. Myself and a few other base owners are going to use the opppotunity to become big cat captains on a 43ft catamaran.

Work on your Novice to Captain repetitions and make plans to join us on a BVI flotilla in 2006. The Graduation week will be full of fun and surprises and a great chance to form comraderie with SailTime members from around the world !
