SailTime Channel Islands Sailing Newsletter - June 2009
Ahoy!
May proved to be one of the best months so far this year for sailing. There was a good mix of light wind days and big wind days. So there was something for everybody. Now it's May Grey, which comes just before June Gloom. So take advantage of a weather window when you get it! I think I mentioned something about new web based stuff happening for SailTime. You would think I have learned by now to not anticipate software upgrades. When they release is when they are available. Assuming they will release when "they" say it will is folly. At any rate, we breathlessly await the new software upgrades that are due "any time now". Knowing my luck it will release while I am away on the Abacos Captains Cruise at which point those of you not going can teach me how to use it upon my return :-)

NOTICES
IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ - Chris and Colin are on the Captains Cruise from June 3-17. During this time period the boats will not receive any service. Please do your best to clean up after yourselves and leave the boats ready for the next Members. Captain Dan has graciously agreed to be the emergency contact if you run into problems. Please call him at 805-750-7828. Note that Capt Dan is also gone June 5-9 on a Bodacious 104. If you have any problems during that time leave him a message and if possible contact anyone on the calendar for your boat so they know of the situation. Thanks for your cooperation with this!
Full Moon Frolic Update - We have been having a great time these past several months on the full moon. Everyone is invited to participate each month. We use Meetup.com for organization and Imagine Member, Dwight Landis is the "Dock Commodore" and coordinator of the event. It begins with a fun race and is followed by a dock party and feast. To make it even more accommodating to all members, SailTime now books the boat slot. Who Captains the boat is up for grabs. After all, everyone likes to be the Captain. And Captains require crews! First boat member to alert Dwight of the desire to Captain becomes theCaptain that month. Even if you are not a Member of a particular boat you are welcome to crew. This is a really great monthly get-together which I owe a lot of gratitude to Dwight and Chris Landis for all the hard work they do to put it together. If you are not a member of Meetup, follow the link above to join so you get notices.
ASA now has an International Proficiency Certification. If you are 105 certified you just need to contact ASA (http://asa.com) and send them $25 to get this new sticker which is recognized around the world by charter and boat rental outfits as the standard for allowing you to take a boat out from them.
