SailTime Channel Islands Sailing Newsletter - November 2007

Ahoy!
Well all that good weather literally went up in smoke in October which was dominated by two weeks of pretty crummy sailing weather. But there were still some great weather windows, like our luck out trip to Catalina. Maybe with all this nutty weather going on, we'll get October in November ? We did manage to salvage a few fun tickets when the Mckinney's graciously opened up their home for a BBQ party the last weekend of October. A good time was had by all and we missed those who couldnt attend.

CAPTAIN DAN'S CORNER

Captain Dans Head shouts Avast! Avast!
OK so this October just past wasn't the best of months for sailing. Maybe it just felt it couldnt live up to all the hype I've made about Fall sailing. Or maybe it is global warming or the effect of our Government's misdoing. But either way, there still was some darn great days out there on the water. You can always contact me before you head down to see what the weather is doing here.

It's time to make plans for ASA 105 - Coastal Navigation. This is a classroom segment that we do every January over at the Anacapa Yacht Club on Victoria just before the coast guard station. We will run for five Saturdays beginning January 12th at 9am. I guarantee you will pass ! But I need you to send me a $100 deposit to commit so that I can go buy all the tools and charts etc, you will be needing. To overnight at the islands and to participate in the Novice to Captain flotilla in the BVI, you must have completed ASA105. So if your plan is to go on the flotilla in 2008, I'll be seeing you in January. For those of you who have already taken 105 but would like a refresher, you are certainly welcome to stop by during the classes as well. Contact me for more information and mark your calendars for January 12th.
